8-18-05 Brakes and rudder pedals 6.0 Finished priming and installing the parking brake mount. Installed fitting on brake valve and installed valve. Purchased a Cable B nut carb heat PN 05-16245 from AC Spruce. Fits perfect in the arm of the PB valve. (see photo) Finished installing the brake lines to the brake valve and installed the braided lines for the master cylinders. Added some Polyurethane tubing to the brake line where it works it¹s way through the gear mount. Spent some time installing the brake pedals. Then mounted the master cylinders to the rudder pedal attach points. This is where I couldn't figure out why the brake pedals weren't at the same position. I called Van¹s and Gus said you need the rudder pedals in the fuselage to really understand what's going on. So I put them in and found out what he was talking about. Due to the angle of the rear rudder bar the pedals are offset from the rudder bars to compensate for the angle. What you end up with is the right pedal angling forward a little as referenced to the pedal box and the left one seems to be angled back a bit more than the right. However, if you look at the brake pedals from the front of the fuselage (front top skin off) you will see the brake pedals sit at the same angle. |
