/ 8-2 10.5 Made the vent tubes. Bent, flared and installed the vent lines. NOTE: I spent quite some time looking for torque settings for these fittings. Finally I found a post pointing to Parker Aerospace. They have documentation on the design and installation of 37 Deg. fittings. I have made a new Tips section and have linked the documents. They are in PDF format. I used the flats method as Parker states this is the preferred method. Went to Aircraft spruce and picked up some Seal Lube by Diversified Technologies. This is applied to the threads only. Also picked up the fuel pump. Made the 2 bushings to space the fuel selector and installed the fittings
on the fuel selector. I installed the nut plates that hold the fuel pump on. Note in the photo I have ground the threaded end down for clearance. I put a little squeeze on portion remaining before installing. I installed the fuel pump and trimmed the bolts where they protruded past the nut plate. Something I noticed, the fuel selector valve plate requires two nut plates. I may have missed this but after going back and looking at plans I would say the plans are misleading. The two nut plates are shown in the forward spar but, the detail on the selector plate show otherwise. I am removing the nut plates from the spar but, will be riveting through the spar and selector plate. I may have a slight clearance problem but will just have to wait and see. |
