Well the wings, or should I say wing parts finally arrived!!! By Fed X Freight. As we unloaded the boxes from the truck the driver noticed the end of the spar box was punched through. We pulled the end of the box off and inspected. Everything seemed ok but I still had him call in and report the box damage and record it on the shipping invoice.

I opened the spar box and thank God there was no damage. Once I had the boxes open I found places to store the parts. There is definitely a lot of parts. (Wing arrival photos)

Worked on wing jig. I will be doing both wings at the same time.

Fabricated tie down brackets, deburred, cleaned and alodined.

Sized Bell crank bushings and Bell cranks. Honed for good, free fit of bushing. Installed W-933 tie down bracket and the WD421-R Bell crank. Leave the bushing .015/.030 longer than the bell crank. This will allow the bell crank to move on the bushing and gives .015/.030 of vertical play. Also, it took a few good looks at drawing #9 to figure that the WD421-R (right) Bell crank goes on the left spar. Go figure?

Drilled and deburred left rear spar and W907E and D. Enlarged aileron push rod tube holes.

Matched drilled rear spar and 907C & B doublers and deburred. Drilled #40 holes in top of rear spars in area where 907C & B go and dimpled. Due to lack of room after the 907C & B are riveted into place.

Due to the time it takes to maintain this site I will be doing things just a little different. Matched drilled Aileron brackets to rear spar.( Did this prior to prime and Assy. of rear spar.) Fabricated the W925B and C's. Matched drilled W925 brackets and the W911 and W910. Matched drilled the 925 Assy to the outboardW911 and W910 inboard ribs and rear spar. ( Leaving center flap bracket until later when skins on on.

Fabricated and matched drilled flap brackets, right wing. ( Only fabed brackets for center flap bracket rib #7. It will be drilled in place later.

Finished drilling right wing flap brackets. Matched drilled flap and aileron gap fairing. Deburred brackets. Countersunk #40 on the rear spars where the doubler plates are underneath. Dimpled the 3 holes on the outboard end of the rear spar for outboard rib. Deburred rear spars. Deburred ribs and red wheeled to remove scratches. Also, used scotchbrite Loc wheels and a die grinder to deburr with. Worked Great!

Made the T912 brackets. Drilled 1/8 & 3/16 holes, clecoed and blind riveted the 912's to the tank and mounted the tank to the wing.

Drilled 3/16 holes through the spar into the 912's. Drilled splice and checked twist. Less than .020. Removed brackets to deburr.

Started countersinking left tank 901-902 span of rivet holes.

Finished countersinking 901-902 holes in the left tank. Drilled #19 holes in 901 splice strip.

Worked on fabricating the T905 and starting drilling the T912 for nutplates.

03-13-04 5.0 HoursInstalled fuel sender R. tank. Riveted R. leading edge rib. * Joshua shot the rivets and I bucked. He did a great job! Squeezed L.E. skin to spar rivets. Leak tested R. tank- no leaks. Cleaned and primed tank ext. areas. Mounted tank.

Finished installing tank screws. Primed R wing top skins. Clecoed skins to spar and ribs.

Match drilled stiffeners to left aileron skins and started to dimple skins.

Made flap/aileron table out of MDF and 2x4s. Shaved high rivets on r-tank. Dimpled L aileron skins. Dimpled stiffeners. Cleaned parts for prime. Primed skins and stiffeners. Back riveted stiffeners to skins. Clecoed bottom skin on and matched drilled to 905LR. Deburred and dimpled skin and 905R&L bottom. Assembled w/ 2 rivets in 905L/R and flipped the assembly over. Clecoed nose skin to Bottom and flipped back over. Clecoed nose to top spar and skin. Top skin at this point looked very wavy! Made sand bags out of cement (dry) and freezer bags and used a ½ x 3 board to evenly distribute the 4 bags. Total weight was aprox. 45 lbs. Drilled nose ribs and counterbalance tube. Placed AEX wedge in T.E., drilled and clecoed to table.

Scotch brite ribs, spar, doubler plates, etc. Cleaned and primed parts. Riveted frame assembly. Riveted skins on to spar and ribs. Tank sealant on T.E. and clecoed to flap table to cure.

Riveted trailing edge. Assembled hinges and torqued nuts.

Deburred r- aileron parts and skins.

Clecoed r-aileron frame and drilled counterbalance tube.

Dimpled skins and stiffeners.

Riveted stiffeners onto skins. Started to match drill bottom skins to 905LR and noticed that the spar and skin holes didn't line up. I dimpled the wrong side of the bottom skin and now it's reversed. Drilled out stiffeners to use again. Scrapped skin. Will order new one. Started left flap. De- plastic parts, straightened 908 spacers and frap brackets. Clecoed to spar and matched drilled.
